Makechat

Calm conversations, on your phone and your computer.

Makechat is where private chats, family groups, stories, and channels live inside your Make account. Private messages are encrypted on your device before they are sent.

Messages only your devices can read.

Each 1:1 message is sealed with a key derived from both of your key pairs. Make's servers store and relay scrambled text, not what you wrote. You can compare a safety code with the other person to confirm the keys match.

Groups for family, savings clubs, and teams.

Groups hold up to 1,024 members and stay end-to-end encrypted. Keys change whenever someone joins or leaves. Use polls to decide things together.

Send big files without shrinking them.

Photos and videos up to 60 MB, documents up to 1 GB. Files are encrypted on your device before upload, and large files are sent in parts so they never have to sit whole in memory.

Stories that disappear after 24 hours.

Share photos, videos, or text with your contacts. Each story is sealed per viewer and ends on its own after a day.

Channels for broadcasting news.

One sender, many readers. Channels suit neighbourhood notices, communities, or small businesses. Channel posts are public to followers and are not end-to-end encrypted.

Voice calls straight from the chat.

1:1 voice calls are end-to-end encrypted and ring on your phone and linked browsers. Makechat does not support video calls or group calls yet.

3D games in the middle of a chat.

Chess, checkers, snakes and ladders, tic-tac-toe, and rock-paper-scissors can be played by two people in a 1:1 chat. The server runs the rules and keeps track of turns.
